Google answers
[edit]The bit about Google telling you that Carmen is in Cairo is nothing special. You may pose questions to Google, i.e. "Where is George W Bush?" or "Where is Brazil?", and based on the pages that Google has in storage, it will look for phrases like: "George W Bush is at the White House" or "Brazil is in South America". From this, Google can extract information and return it making it appear that it is an Easter Egg or something of that sort, when in fact it is a well documented feature.
- I would be inclined to call this an easter egg because:
- A search for "Where is Carmen Sandiego?" returns no "answer"; the "where in the world" is required (which it usually is not), and
- The source given for the answer "Cairo, Egypt" is google.com
- — MikeX (talk) 09:08, August 20, 2005 (UTC) P.S.: Watch your Latin! "i.e." stands for id est, which means "that is". You mean to say e.g., or exempli gratia.

Cassettes
[edit]I remember listening to Carmen Sandiego tapes as a child, but can't remember enough details on the play at home series to create a section about it. Additionally, there were board games based on the series as well.166.20.98.62 20:27, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
The leading paragraph is confusing
[edit]Was / is Carmen Sandiego a real criminal? I.e., a real person? The very first sentence suggests it.
If she's not, which I believed, WP:WAF applies to this article, and should help to remove the confusion.--euyyn 21:47, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
- I inserted the word "fictional" into the lead sentence, which should make it clear that she's not real. —LrdChaos 16:04, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
Should we add "Category:Fictional characters from California" to this page based on the fact that Carmen was raised at the Golden Gate Girls' School in San Francisco according to Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego? The doubt is due to the lack of continuity between different branches of the series. 67.171.163.212 03:43, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
History merge
[edit]Don't Delete- This page is quite useful, and well done. Nothing here is contained on the other page cited. Many other sites are developed on characters whose names are contained in the name of the series. There is a Character Site for the series, which she is not listed on.
- It's not being deleted, only a notice for an admin to fix the cut & paste movie. The article on the series didn't exist before April 3. –Pomte 04:05, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
- I've moved the old history from Carmen Sandiego to this page. It was cut-and-pasted to this location about March 3, and the article currently at Carmen Sandiego was refashioned to encompass the whole series. Cool Hand Luke 06:33, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Carmen sandiego.jpg
[edit]Image:Carmen sandiego.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

- Thanks a lot, bot. There are absolutely NO PICTURES WHATSOEVER of Carmen on Wikipedia. Not one. I suppose this just adds to her mysterious allure, but... this is an encyclopedia folks! If a "fair use" picture exists, it needs to be in this article. Fuzzform (talk) 02:17, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
Kids' material
[edit]"She is also known for her striking looks and sexual appeal." Isn't this a kids' thing? Why is this part in here? Umma Kynes 19:05, 16 September 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ummakynes (talk • contribs)

[edit]While the Netflix depiction is more recent, and there is cosplay, I believe that the original design should be used, especially as the question of whether this current design will stand the test of time stands. - Cukie Gherkin (talk) 02:53, 28 May 2024 (UTC)
